The painting depicts a young girl in the setting of a traditional Ukrainian village. This image serves as both a nostalgic reference to the artist's own childhood in Borozenka, a village in Romny Raion, Sumy Oblast, northern Ukraine, and a metaphor for the inner child within each of us, and creativity and art as the way to reach it. It encapsulates the essence of untainted creativity and the innocent joy that accompanies it.
As a contemporary Ukrainian artist living in the UK, my work has been heavily influenced by my personal experience and the complex cultural and political dynamics of my homeland. In my artistic practice, I view abstract art as a powerful vehicle for self-exploration and introspection. Through the interplay of colours, shapes, and textures, I delve deep into the realms of my own emotions, memories, and subconscious. Abstract art allows me to transcend the boundaries of literal representation, encouraging viewers to engage with my work on a visceral and intuitive level. I invite them to embark on their own personal journeys of exploration and interpretation.
