Matt Foster joined the Leach Pottery in 2015 as the second Seasalt Bursary Apprentice and is now the studio’s production manager where he continues to develop his personal work in a diverse and exciting environment. He focuses on the pot’s suitability to its function and is influenced by his interpretation of the Japanese Mingei (‘art of the people’) philosophy. “What I’m trying to do is to make work that honestly fulfils the purpose for which it was made and becomes deeply embedded in the life of the people who take it home.”
